Introduction
McDonald’s
I have been contacted by the multinational fast food chain company
McDonalds, asking me to create a radio advert for their breakfast range of
products. McDonalds is the largest fast food chain restaurant around the world,
serving about 68 million customers on a daily basis in 119 countries around the
world. They serve a lot of different food items including, hamburgers,
cheeseburgers, fries, breakfast items, drinks, milkshakes and deserts.
McDonald’s serve a wide range of food fit for all ages, from
happy meals for children and families or workers that grab breakfast and coffee
on the go. The companies target audience is literally every person possible,
from kids to elderly people. So the advert I create has to be fit for and appeal
to people of all ages. In my advert I plan to include a couple of items from
their breakfast menu and also some from the all-day menu.
I plan on creating an advertisement that is relevant to the
company and will appeal to every potential customer out there. I want my advert
to be remembered so I may use some repetitive techniques in order for my advert
to be recognizable and memorable. I will include all the information and deals
that are on for the McDonalds breakfast menu, for example the breakfast meal
deal for under £4.
When creating my advert I have to be aware of the legal and
ethical issues that could occur, for example in the BCAP Code it states “Advertisements
must not condone or encourage excessive consumption of any food.” This means
when making my advert I should state that the customer should enjoy with a
varied balanced diet, not all the time. Another issue is in the BCAP Code it
states “Advertisements must avoid anything likely to condone or encourage poor nutritional
habits or an unhealthy lifestyle, especially in children.” This means in my
advert I cannot advertise directly to children to eat McDonalds food, or
condone unhealthy eating habits for example, eating McDonalds every day.
